Reeses Cake and Maverick birthday
It was Maverick’s birthday last week and cassiboy had a little party in honor of the big day. Cassiboy wanted to make a cake after having so much fun baking Maverick’s favorite yellow cake on her birthday so she hit me up to see if I was interested in helping. Of course I hate to pass up an opportunity to make a cake so we agreed to meet in my kitchen on Saturday. I already guessed Cassi made the yellow cake so I suggested peanut butter cake of some sort and stumbled upon this jewel while looking for recipes http://smellslikehome.wordpress.com/2008/03/25/reeses-peanut-butter-chocolate-cake/. I sent it to Cassiboy for review and due to the favorable reaction, we decided to try it.
So here’s photos from the bake. I do not at all understand the point of buttering and flouring the cake pan and THEN putting parchment paper down. Maybe someone can explain that to me. Also, we didn’t add the cooled chocolate but I’m not sure it made that big of a difference. Also, I woke up this morning and as soon as my eyes popped open, I thought about the butter I needed to set out at room temp. for another cake I’m making. In thinking about that, I thought about the fact that the recipe called for 10 tbsp of butter in the peanut butter frosting I made yesterday and I accidentally used 16. Yikes. Sorry. You all said you loved it….
