Cookies and Pork omnomnomnom
Hi! Welcome. This is my little blog on cooking and eating and some more eating. I think I’m starting to come out of the winter slump. I have been grilling and baking up a storm lately. Last night I made Home Made Girl Scout Cookies – Samoas (my personal favorites), Thin Mints and Tagalongs.
In years past, I have ordered up to 15 boxes of cookies but this year no one sold to our office. I really really really love Samoas so making my own seemed like a pretty good deal. I have gone so far as to contact Little Brownie Bakers to try and buy direct but they just won’t do it. Something about fundraisers or some junk. Anyways, now I can have year round Samoas! They are really labor intensive so I think next time I’ll triple the batch and freeze them.
The Thin mints turned out ok. I probably wouldn’t make them again. Same with the Tagalongs. There are too many cookies similar to Tagalongs and Thin Mints commercially available.
For dinner, I grilled pork tenderloins on my Big Green Egg (BGE) . I am a certifiable Egghead and I think this is something only other Eggheads truly understand. I grilled two tenderloins, one I marinated in bourbon, soy sauce and brown sugar. The other I rubbed with Dizzy Pig Dust, wrapped it up and let it marinate too. I grilled them both together but added a spicy bbq sauce to the dry rubbed tenderloin. I really liked both of them, they are completely different so difficult to compare. I threw some zucchini and onion in foil and steamed that on the grill as well. Add that to my home made Greek salad and I had a good Sunday feast!
Overall, I’d grade the results as:
Samoas – A
Thin Mints -C+
Tagalongs – B-
Pork Tenderloin – A
